Credit and Customer Service teams are critical to Macy’s success, driving results and impacting the bottom line. In this 8-10 week internship, you’ll work closely with management, customers and associates to further maximize the group’s contribution and enhance its business potential.
Our interns explore and experience the full dynamic scope of retail credit in a supportive, challenging and fun setting. Your in-office assignments will be augmented by e- and classroom-style learning as well as cross-functional responsibilities. You’ll also be mentored by some of the best talent in the industry as you develop your leadership skills and heighten your critical thinking.
Our Credit and Customer Services Summer Internship is offered in several Macy’s locations: Mason, OH, Bridgeton, MO, Clearwater, FL, and Tempe, AZ. Classes start in June.
In our 8-10 week summer internship program, top undergraduates interested in an internship position with one of the nation’s top retailers will be given the unique opportunity to learn the inner workings of a multi-million dollar premier department store. You will be exposed to the day-to-day events of our dynamic, fast-paced industry. Possible business exposures include Customer Service, Credit Operations, Omnichannel Support Services, associate development, technical support and internal analytics.
As an Intern, you will gain an understanding of how servicing our customer drives results and impacts our bottom line through a balance of in-office assignments combined with e-learning and Classroom Style learning and cross-functional departmental exposures. You will work closely with management, customers and associates to maximize business potential. Be mentored by some of the best and most successful talent in the retail industry. You will also have the opportunity to get involved with our community outreach initiatives and volunteer program. At the end of the Internship you will complete a final project and presentation that focuses on a business driving opportunity.
Throughout the Internship Program, you will receive feedback and guidance, including individual touch points with the program manager. You will develop leadership and critical thinking skills needed for successful entry into the business world. As an Intern, you’ll explore the dynamics of the retail credit industry in a supportive, challenging and fun setting. Interaction with subject matter experts will provide greater insight to the multitude of career opportunities available in our organization.
Prepare for your role to manage a function or specific area within an assigned department. Learn to monitor and evaluate job performance, implement employee training programs, develop policy/procedures to maximize customer satisfaction and much more. You may choose or be assigned to rotations in Human Resources Services, Credit Operations and/or Credit Marketing.
Manage a specific function and staff, such as Credit Granting or macys.com Operations or become a project manager in within various different departments. Engage, coach, and supervise your staff. Work collaboratively on high priority projects focused on Macy's key strategies for driving excellent customer service and sales. Be involved in diversity and community events.
Supervise day-to-day operations of functions within a department and a team of direct reports. Oversee department productivity along with budgetary responsibilities. Deliver on key business initiatives, drive innovation throughout the department, and engage with staff.
Oversee the performance of all areas of assigned responsibility to set customer service policy and ensure quality customer service. Supervise all exempt associates.
In these senior level positions, Credit Executives set the enterprise-level strategic direction for their function.
First things first, you will need a solid academic record; a cumulative 3.0 GPA minimum is preferred. All majors will be considered for this opportunity.
We are looking for a candidate that has demonstrated ability to prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and achieve productivity in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills and above average quantitative comprehension along with the ability to promote teamwork, solve problems, and manage complex relationships are all some of the necessary skills we look for in a candidate.
Some of the other attributes needed for this job include PC and MS Office proficiency, taking pride in details and accuracy, and having strong communication and presentation skills.
