The Marketing Internship at Macy’s is designed to give you an overview of the marketing functions of a fast-paced, omnichannel retailer. It’s also a unique opportunity to be mentored by some of the best and most successful marketing executives in the industry.
As an intern on this team, you’ll be fully immersed in the innovative, inspiring world of Macy’s marketing, as well as developing an understanding of the role it plays in supporting robust e-commerce and brick and mortar stores.
Particular areas of emphasis for this experience include: media planning, advertising, marketing effectiveness, merchandise marketing, special events, public relations, and/or creative direction/graphic design.
Our Marketing Summer Internship is offered at our corporate offices in New York City. Classes start in June.
In this 8-week paid internship, you will gain first-hand insight into the world of marketing at Macy’s. You will develop an understanding of the impact marketing has on our robust e-commerce presence, Omnichannel strategies, and department store business. Throughout this experience you will partner with a marketing team on sales-driving strategies and world-renowned special events—receiving mentorship from some of the best and most successful marketing executives in the industry.
A balance of in-office and classroom-style learning allows you to learn your role within the company as well as big-picture business strategies. You will attend weekly all-intern seminars and work on a collaborative group project to present to senior executives at the end of the internship.
As a Marketing intern, you will learn how to collaborate and successfully execute advertisements, events, and media initiatives—all the while developing the leadership and critical thinking skills needed for successful entry into the business world. Be part of a collaborative and friendly team, while challenging your thought process in areas of emphasis such as: Media Planning, Advertising, Marketing Effectiveness, Merchandise Marketing, Special Events, Public Relations, and Creative-Art Direction/Graphic Design.

First thing is first. To be eligible for the Marketing Internship, you should be in your junior year, on your way to earning a bachelor’s degree, and hold a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0. All majors will be considered for this opportunity.
A few of the qualities that would make an ideal candidate include: strong analytical and critical thinking skills, effective communication, interpersonal, and time management skills, leadership, and the ability to collaborate and succeed in a team environment. Having an assertive approach in prioritizing projects and executing multiple tasks to achieve productivity and business goals are also qualities that make a strong candidate.
