The business world has certainly sent mixed signals in recent years – shifting from corporate suits to business casual to sometimes very casual, depending on the organization.
Good advice for interview dressing is to kick it up a notch, even in business casual environments. The key is to look polished and professional. Here are some guidelines:
WOMEN
- Solid color, conservative suit (skirt or pants) with coordinated blouse
- Moderate heeled closed-toe shoes
- Limited jewelry
- Neat, professional hairstyle and manicured nails
- Light make-up and little or no perfume
- Portfolio or briefcase
MEN
- Solid color, conservative suit, long-sleeve shirt, conservative tie
- Professional shoes with dark socks
- Neat hairstyle and trimmed nails
- Little or no cologne or aftershave
