Helping Our Hometowns
Macy’s, Inc. strongly supports community involvement through volunteerism and contribution programs. We believe that more vibrant communities provide better environments for our stores to do business, and for our employees and customers to live and work.
You’ll see this community spirit at every level of our organization. Just a few of the ways we pitch in to give back include:
- Community service is an important part of our everyday business life. Partners in Time is our employee volunteer program that organizes group projects in each community, based on its specific needs and employee interests.
- Our unique grants-for-schools initiative, Earning for Learning, encourages and rewards educational volunteerism. More that $900,000 in grants has been given so far.
- Cause-marketing campaigns conducted by Macy’s in 2008 raised record amounts of funds for organizations such as the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Reading is Fundamental’s Multicultural Literacy Campaign, Shop for a Cause, Bag Hunger, the National Park Foundation, and more.
- Collectively, contributions from the company and the Macy's Foundation - as well as employee contributions through workplace giving campaigns and customer contributions through our signature giving programs - totaled more than $76.6 million in 2008.
Macy’s Foundation
