"There are several elements that go into building a solid and successful career, but I think the foundation for me has really been the partnerships I've formed with the people around me. When you develop relationships and partnerships in business, and more importantly, when you maintain those relationships even when it's no longer on a daily basis - they come back around again and again. Early on in my career, I chose some people that I admired, and I learned from them. Today, nearly 23 years later, I am still learning from them. I still call them. I still run ideas by them. And through their support and my own determination and self-development, I was really able to grow my professional life. There is a lot to like about Macy's, Inc., but I think the people and the organization's focus on people is what I value most. Both Macy's and Bloomingdale's are filled with such talent, but even beyond that, there is a legacy here - a family of people who have been in the business for a long time, and who bring with them the history of the company and the evolution of an industry."
