I actually started working at Macy's as a sales associate when I was a freshman at Penn State. After I graduated, I put my resume online, thinking I should look into other industries. I got offers from financial companies and banks. But they didn't appeal to me the way retail does, being able to engage with so many different people.
Macy's was still in touch with me, and I got accepted into the management executive development program. I love my job. Supervising 17 sales associates. Working with my merchandise team manager. Looking at the weekly numbers for my boss and coming up with ideas and conclusions on how to make our business stronger.
The relationships are great throughout the organization. I've been asked for my opinions by the CEO on down. I can easily and comfortably express my opinion and know that it counts. That's amazing to me.
